  The first massed produced carpets were by Pierre Du pont in Paris in 1596 & today his name is still associated with Du pont fibres.

   Tufted Carpets started to appear during the 1940's replacing the expensive & traditional woven carpets & about this time a modern fibre was invented called nylon, obtaining its name from the capitals either side of the Atlantic New York (NY) & London (LON). Today over 90% of carpet sales are tufted.

During the 1960'S Cyril Lord developed the carpet trade into the shape we see today with massive improved fibres such as Merraklon,Antron & the polyester family.
